Jackson State Gets Property Windfall From the State of Mississippi

The state of Mississippi recently turned over the deeds for 73 properties to Jackson State University, the historically black educational institution in the state capital. The properties were taken over by the state when their owners failed to pay the taxes due on the real estate.

The university will use the land to build residential and commercial projects for which the university will act as landlord. Other parcels will be used for the construction of student housing.
