Black Enrollments Are Down at Berkeley

The University of California at Berkeley has issued final enrollment figures for the fall semester. There are 1,203 black students on campus this year, compared to 1,253 a year ago. There are 49 fewer black undergraduate students, but black graduate students are down by only one. Blacks make up 3.4 percent of the 35,838 students on campus.

There were 84 new black students who transferred to Berkeley this fall, the same number as a year ago. Black freshman enrollments are down by 3.9 percent. They make up 3 percent of all new freshman enrollments.
