Appointments

Theodosia Shields was appointed director of the James E. Shepard Memorial Library at North Carolina Central University in Durham. She has previously served as dean of library services at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and as the university librarian at Dillard University in New Orleans.

A native of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Dr. Shields is a graduate of  South Carolina State University. She holds a master’s degree from Atlanta University and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.

James H. Ammons, chancellor of North Carolina Central University, was elected to the board of directors of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.

Drew Berry has accepted an offer to join the faculty at the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communication at Hampton University. He was the general manager of WMAR-TV, the ABC television network affiliate in Baltimore. Berry is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.
