Grants
• Dillard University, the historically black educational institution in New Orleans, received a $2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help the university rebuild off-campus student housing that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005.
• The University of South Carolina School of Medicine received a $100,000 grant from the Greenville Hospital System for a scholarship program earmarked for a minority medical student. The black or other minority student will receive $20,000 a year for five years.
