Southern University Receives a Unique Donation

The Shreveport campus of historically black Southern University received a unique donation from FedEx. The shipping firm donated a Boeing 727 jetliner for use in the university’s aerospace technology degree program. The plane has been delivering FedEx packages for 15 years after serving 13 years in the Air Canada fleet. The grounded plane will now be used as a workshop for the university’s aerospace program, which is based at Shreveport’s Downtown Airport.

The jet is 153 feet long and weighs more than 200,000 pounds.
