Henry Louis Gates Jr. Honored in China
Last month, scholars from across China convened at Beijing Foreign Studies University to honor Henry Louis Gates Jr., the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor and director of the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research at Harvard University. More than 50 scholars presented papers on Gates’ work at the conference, which coincided with the publication of several of the Harvard professor’s works in Chinese. Professor Gates stated that the conference in China was “truly one of the greatest honors of my career.”
