ALMA COLLEGEPresident of the College

The Board of Trustees of Alma College invites nominations and applications for the position of President of the College.  The President is the chief executive officer of the College, serves ex officio on the College’s Board of Trustees and all of its committees, and is considered the principal advisor to the Chair of the Board.

ANGELO STATE UNIVERSITY — Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITYHonors Faculty Fellow, Barrett Honors College

The Barrett Honors College of Arizona State University invites applications for a faculty position as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Principal Lecturer.  The faculty of the honors college, comprised of non-tenure track Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, and Principal Lecturers most on three-year renewable and rolling appointments, normally teach three to four seminar classes of fewer than 20 students each semester.  Most of these classes are sections of a first-year, two-semester interdisciplinary examination of important ideas from the earliest writing to the present.  They are discussion-based seminars taught by the faculty from their different perspectives of natural science, social science or humanities.  Special attention is given to critical thinking and argumentative writing skills.  Barrett Honors College students represent the top six percent of undergraduates at ASU, with average entering SATs of 1320 and over one-third of each class are National Scholars.

We seek to fill a full-time, multi-year faculty position to teach the first-year seminar, preferably from the point of view of a social science discipline, but others in natural sciences and humanities may apply.  The position begins August, 2010; the nine-month salary will be based on education and experience.

Qualifications: A PhD in any field of social or natural sciences and humanities as defined at ASU is required at time of hire, as is prior teaching experience at the college level.  Experience in leading discussion seminars is desirable.

The Dean, who reports to the Provost, administers a complex College that offers undergraduate degrees in accounting, business administration, management, marketing, nursing, and social work as well as masters degrees in business administration and social work. The BSN program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The BSW and MSW programs are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

The Dean is responsible for oversight and collegial strategic planning for the college as well as needs and outcomes assessment; program development and evaluation; faculty development, grant development, and related activities. The Dean works collaboratively with the administrative heads of the Schools of Business, Nursing and Social Work in personnel evaluation, faculty development and related activities. The Dean also will work collaboratively with the Office of University Advancement to identify and secure support for the college.

The successful candidate will have a terminal degree and significant administrative experience in an area within the College of Professional Studies. He or she also shall have experience with external professional accreditation processes and curriculum assessment. The Dean must appreciate the importance of all disciplines included in the College of Professional Studies and be an advocate for both undergraduate and graduate education in the entire College to the university and to the external community. The Dean should be able to demonstrate an appreciation for interdisciplinary approaches to learning and respect for students and colleagues of all backgrounds.

• Monitors and reports CARE and VTEA program budget expenditures according to established procedures. Assists the Director with budget preparation and on-going monitoring.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the current state policies, rules and regulations regarding student services programs.
• Assists students in completing the enrollment and eligibility forms.
• Maintains a file of relevant documents required in the program.

BATES COLLEGEDirector of the Bates Career Development Center

Bates College, one of the nation’s leading liberal arts colleges, is seeking an energetic and dynamic Director of the Bates Career Development Center.

Reporting to the Vice President/Dean of Enrollment and External Affairs, the Director of the Bates Career Development Center will work with faculty, students, and alumni to set the strategic vision for graduate and professional school advising, career development support, profit and non -profit employer placement, internships, summer employment, and creative outreach to all college constituencies to maximize career options for all Bates students. As a key staff leader at Bates, the Director will also lead the Career Development staff, manage budget, and represent Bates to a wide variety of professional schools, non-profit entities and professional and graduate schools who have had historically strong relationships with Bates Career Center staff. The Director will work as a key leader within the Enrollment and External Affairs office of the College to advance the mission, reputation, and quality of the student experience of Bates College. Colleagues within the division will include the Dean of Admission, the Director of Communications and Media Relations, and the Director of Financial Aid.

The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) and a minimum of five years of experience in higher education or related field demonstrating progressive responsibility and leadership. The successful candidate will be a leader with broad understanding of career services including familiarity with graduate and professional school admission, career counseling, internships and experiential programs, job search strategies, job market trends, employer relations and recruitment methodologies, and the application of technology in the delivery of services as well as communication with constituents is required. BETHEL COLLEGEPresident

The Board of Directors of Bethel College in Kansas announces the search for a new President and invites expressions of interest in this unique opportunity for leadership at the oldest Mennonite undergraduate liberal arts institution of higher education.  Bethel College enrolls approximately 500 students each year in a strong liberal arts curriculum and several professional programs that prepare students for the world of work and graduate education.  The institution, located in North Newton, enjoys excellent rankings in Kansas and nationally for its academic program.   Founded in 1887, with an independent charter, the college has served with distinction throughout its existence. 

Bethel College has a 90-acre campus with excellent facilities that provide for additional growth beyond its current enrollment.  It is located 35 minutes from Wichita, the largest city in Kansas, and has easy access to highway I-135. The college operates on a budget of approximately $10m and has an endowment of $14m.  The student body comprises primarily Kansas residents, and enjoys diversity in religious backgrounds, race, and international experience.  Male and female enrollment is fairly balanced and a large majority of the students reside on campus.  The college offers intercollegiate sports for men and women and has competitive facilities within the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference and NAIA Division II programs. The town of Newton, adjacent to North Newton, has a population of 18,000 and historically served as a railroad hub for western traffic.

  • Work with faculty, new program initiators and subject matter experts to ensure that all programs on multiple campuses maintain standardized core curricula.

  • Conduct preliminary research on a new program concept for concept proposal presentation to Cabinet and provide direction to Marketing for   completion of full market research for final proposal presentation to Cabinet.

  •  Work with the Coordinator of Regulatory Affairs to develop new program content information for all accreditation documents, including applications to state, professional, and regional regulators. 

  • Facilitate the generation of new program ideas through the development of synergistic relationships within the School, across campuses with community partners, and through innovative partnerships which offer unique opportunities to strengthen and expand the TCS brand, expertise, and programming. 

  •  Develop and execute sound strategic plans and budgets which support the mission and priorities of TCS. 

  • Other duties assigned by the AVP of Academic Affairs.

  • Additional backup data entry functions on the Raiser's Edge may include donor and prospect profiles, accurate and timely gift processing, preparation and mailing of gift acknowledgement letters; generate standard and specialized reports, provide targeted mailing lists; complete searches/queries; research constituents; and other applications as needed for record maintenance and fundraising support.

  • Provide backup support for the bi-monthly donations report for the Foundation Board of Trustees.

  • Provide monthly income and receivable information for financials.

  • Work with auditor on pledge confirmation letters.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (philanthropy, writing, marketing, business).

  • Minimum of five years strategic fundraising experience with demonstrated success that includes annual giving, proposal writing, board development, volunteer management, scholarships, special events, donor cultivation and stewardship, and donor/prospect research.

The College of Staten Island (CSI) is one of 11 senior colleges of The City University of New York and the only public college on Staten Island.  CSI offers 36 academic programs and 15 masters level graduate degree programs.  In addition, CSI faculty participate in 31 of the 34 CUNY doctoral programs offered through the Graduate Center in Manhattan by mentoring more than 180 students.  Over 130 of these doctoral students are full time on the CSI campus, primarily in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth & Environmental Science, Psychology, Physical Therapy, and PhysicsLocated on a 204-acre park-like campus that is minutes away from the cultural riches of Manhattan, the CSI campus is the largest collegiate site in NYC.  CSI contains state of the art laboratories and equipment for scientific research, an advanced, networked infrastructure and is developing a high performance computational center that will support technology-based research, teaching, and learning throughout CUNY.  The College is planning for enrollment growth and for the construction of new residential facilities during the coming five-year period.

Position Description and Duties: The Dean of Science and Technology reports directly to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs/Provost, and has responsibility for the supervision of faculty recruitment, tenure, and promotion in seven academic departments (Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering Science and Physics, Mathematics, Nursing, and Physical Therapy). Duties include maintenance of the range, depth, and quality of the division’s academic programs; and allocation of budgets among departments and together with the faculty the Dean develops the divisional long-range plan and implements short-range goals. The Dean of Science sits on the Provost’s Council and in concert with the Dean of Research and Graduate Studies is responsible for promoting academic excellence in the sciences and for assuring that students have access to intellectual and practical experiences that will enrich their lives and prepare them for their post-collegiate careers. The Dean is viewed as the academic leader of her/his Division and should be a scholar of repute with a strong background in college teaching and academic administration.

This is an existing position within the CUNY Executive Compensation Plan, subject to applicable University Policies for job performance, salary, and benefits. The Department of the Library at the College of Staten Island invites applications for a faculty Lectureship position as the Assistant to the Archivist. Responsibilities for this position include: archival processing, assisting researchers in the use of special collections materials and supporting public programs, exhibits and class presentations.
