Howard University Awards a Record Number of Doctoral Degrees

howardOn Saturday May 10, Howard University will award 105 doctoral degrees. This is the highest number of doctorates ever awarded by Howard in its history, dating back to 1867.

Howard University awarded its first Ph.D. degree in 1958. It currently offers 28 Ph.D. degree programs. The university’s previous record number of doctorates awarded was 101, in 2008.

Dr. Frimpong was honored by the Society of Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration with the 2024 Mineral Industry Education Award. He currently serves as a professor of mineral engineering, the Robert H. Quenon Endowed Chair, and vice provost for graduate education at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
