In Memoriam: Cedric Sydney Rodney, 1924-2012

Cedric S. Rodney, who recently retired as the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor of Religion and Ethics at Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina, has died at the age of 88. He had served on the faculty at the university for more than 40 years. He was appointed to the James A. Gray Professorship in 1992.

Dr. Rodney was a native of Guyana and came to the United States in 1959. Ordained in the Moravian Church, Dr. Rodney was a graduate of Malone College in Canton, Ohio. He held a master’s degree from John Carroll University in Cleveland and a doctor of divinity degree from the Moravian Theological Seminary in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
