Two Black Women Honored by the University of Wisconsin

Later this month the University of Wisconsin at Madison is honoring two Black women with its Outstanding Women of Color Award.

Tanya Lynn Brito, professor of law at the University of Wisconsin joined the faculty in 1997. She is being honored for her commitment to social justice, community service, scholarly research and writing on issues of race and poverty. Since 2007, she has served as the on-air host of the radio program “A Public Affair.”

Professor Brito is a graduate of Barnard College and Harvard Law School.

Dawn Bryant Crim is the associate dean for external relations at the University of Wisconsin’s School of Education. A 1989 graduate of the University of Virginia, she has been a women’s basketball coach at Pennsylvania State University, the University of Kentucky, and the University of Washington. After college she played professional basketball in Germany.

Crim is the co-founder of the Madison Network of Black Professionals.
